A trademark distinguishes your goods or services from others. It can include words, logos, letters, numerals, colours, sounds, shapes or combinations — provided the sign can be represented clearly for registration.
Why register
Registration is not compulsory in Hong Kong, but a registered mark generally provides clearer exclusive rights and a stronger basis to stop confusingly similar use on related goods or services, compared with relying only on common-law passing-off claims.
Application process (overview)
After filing, the Trade Marks Registry examines the application. If there are no deficiencies and no successful opposition, registration can sometimes complete in around six months — timelines vary with complexity and objections.
VCL helps you prepare particulars, coordinate filings and track examination correspondence.
